Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
Site Layer is an early-access product operated by Ali Khazan, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Site Layer website or product, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Site Layer is currently a pre-incorporation project run by an individual developer. When Site Layer is incorporated as a Canadian company, this policy will be updated and you will be notified by email.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and password (your password is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk — we never see or store it). If you request early access through the waitlist form, we collect your email address and optionally your role.
Information you upload. When you use the product, you upload documents about the buildings you manage — such as leases, warranties, vendor contracts, manuals, and inspection reports. These documents may contain personal information about tenants, owners, and staff.
Information we receive automatically. We receive basic usage information when you interact with the product, including the pages you visit, the features you use, and any errors that occur. This is used to operate and improve the service.
How we use it
We use the information above to provide the service, communicate with you about the product, respond to your questions, and improve how the product works. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your uploaded documents to train third-party AI models.
Who we share it with
We share data with a small set of service providers who help us run the product. Each of them is bound by their own privacy commitments.
- Clerk — authentication and user account management
- Anthropic — language model for generating drafts and answering questions
- OpenAI — language model for specific extraction tasks
- Qdrant — vector database for document search
- The cloud infrastructure provider we use for hosting
We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers located in Canada or the United States, depending on the provider. By using the product, you consent to this storage arrangement.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account and data, we will do so within 30 days, except where we are required to keep certain records for legal reasons.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, ask us to delete your information, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have mishandled your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email alikhazann@gmail.com.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the product to work (for example, to keep you signed in). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we will notify early-access users by email.
